Speaking from a very experienced point of view when it comes to blades i must point out that when you say "splade" you are refering to a weapon designed in the Dark Ages as an aid to battlefield undertakers. It was a combination of a Spade and a Blade, ie it was a spade with edges forged to an edge not unlike that of a sword. The use of said Splade was two fold, the actual "spade" part served as a way to dig holes to bury the dead and the sharp "blade" edges were used to genrally cut and dismember bodies (alive or dead).

Ok, thanks 4 ur input Matthew, but I'm not sure we needed 2 know that. A splade is a commonly used kitchen utensil 2 and i don't think that it is generally used 4 nething other than eating... although some people do like 2 refer 2 them as "weapons".

That's strange my mum's a very experienced cook and she's never heard of a Splade as a kitchen utensil.
